Another 3 Wind Turbines Commissioned
- Greenspan Electric has successfully commissioned its 3 wind turbine development at Cairnmore, Rhynie, Aberdeenshire – on time and on budget
- Local contractors were employed as much as possible to assist with the development and all coped with a long and snowy winter
- W&G Beverly & Sons and Dow Slaters (both of Rhynie) made a wonderful job converting a ruined cottage into a state of the art electrical substation
- RJ Plant Contractors (of Insch) did fantastic work widening and improving the access roads and establishing the site roads
- Local farmers helped enormously with snow clearing, fencing, trenching and cable laying
- The renewable energy from all three turbines is sold to Marks and Spencer plc, assisting with a major part of their environmental policy, Plan A
- The three turbines will generate enough clean, green energy every year to meet the annual electricity demand of around 1,600 homes, which is roughly equivalent to every household in Rhynie and Alford combined
- The official site opening is planned for the Autumn
